Busy Weekend

We spent the weekend in Towson visiting Jess, Jenn and Kate. Ev enjoys his first college basketball game (Towson vs. UD) with Grandad, and he was completely enthralled with all of the commotion.
Dad and Ev share matching beverages.
Grandmom reading to the sleepy heads in the morning.
Ev was a big fan of Kate's little dustbuster! Maybe we'll have to get one... a real one... :o)
Tea party!!
"A spot of tea?!"
Playing with the blocks together nicely.
Kate was nice enough to share her raisins with Ev while we waited for lunch. He was not so sure he liked them... he is much more a fan of grapes!
In the Towson mall, there is this awesome little play center where kids are free to run, jump and climb all over everything. We tried it out a little bit on Saturday evening, but it was quite crowded! Here is Ev's test run...
We went back this morning, and Ev and Kate had a BLAST!! Kate shows Ev how to go down the slide.
Woohoo -- riding in a car!! :o)
And this is not in Towson, but this is just to prove that our child is part goat... he can't get enough climbing! The chairs in the kitchen to get to the table, the couches, our bed, and of course, his changing table!

Sheer Silliness

While I was getting ready for work, Ev decided to model my scarf for me.
Even with this sour puss face as he tried a lime...
He kept going back for more!
Instead of a bag lady, we have ourselves a blanket boy! He loves to carry as many blankets as he can around with him, and then he snuggles with them as he gets ready for bed.
This little booger decided to drag his high chair all around the kitchen the other day.
A closet boozy... looks like a rough night!
Trying on my field hockey shirt. "Can you take it in a little on the sides?"

Bath Time Fun

Even though Evan is usually running away from bath time now, once he's in, he really enjoys it. he particularly takes joy in this fish that fills up with water and squirts when you squeeze it. He thinks it's hysterical when it squirts me in the face, and yet even more hysterical when he squirts himself in the face! Needless to say, our bathroom is quite wet at the end of bath time... :o)

Of course, he is easily distracted by the cat...

All Cooped Up...

With all of this snow that we've gotten recently, we've been confined to the house an awful lot. We were able to take Ev out for a brief ten minute stint in the cold until his nose was too runny and his cheeks too red for me to handle. All suited up:

Then he was tasked with carrying these ice chunks back up the driveway.
When you've spent too many days inside with the same old toys, you have to make your own fun. Josh made this fun little indoor sled, which Ev enjoys immensely!
"I didn't do it..."
I started to undress Ev for his bath, and the little rascal took off...
Once he's in the tub, though, he enjoys catching the drips of water out of this scoop.

Bring on Global Warming!!

Evan experienced his first blizzard this weekend! The snow started falling Friday evening and lasted almost 24 hours. We lost our power first thing Saturday morning, around 6 am. :o( As cold as it was outside, our house started to lose its heat rather quickly. Thank goodness we had this little propane heater that we set up in Evan's room to run in small bouts to keep us warm. We kept Ev in a fleece slepper, an extra pair of fleece pants, and this fleece jacket most of the day, so he was quite warm, but Josh and I got a little chilly when we were evicted from his room during nap times. Nevertheless, we survived!! :o)
.
Josh and Ev getting toasty by the heater.
Since his room was the only warm room in the house, we threw all of his toys in here to try to stay busy.
Josh and I played some Lord of Rings Monopoly by candlelight during his second nap. I promise the room was not this light while we were playing, so we must have a pretty nice flash on this camera... :o)
The electricity came back on around 7:00 pm, long enough so that we could reset our water supplies. When it went back out just before 9 pm, we raised our white flag and went to sleep. This morning, we had power again and Josh went outside to access the damage.
.
Yep -- that's a lot of snow! And no, those tire tracks are not ours... our caring neighbor drove his tractor up to our house yesterday to check on us.
We have no front steps or access to the front door...
Whew...
The snow measured about 20 inches in the driveway. There were drifts on the back deck that I'm sure are up to my waist, if not higher!
This is our road, which is basically a sheet of ice. We are pretty certain the only reason it was plowed yesterday was because the two plows that passed by were each followed by an ambulance.
Otherwise, we think it would look like the road that is adjacent to ours, directly in front of our house:
This is Josh's big pile that he shoveled to get my car free.
Thank goodness our lovely neighbor came back and plowed us out! Ev loves to watch him work and "brrm brrm" the entire time.
Josh trying to show how icy the roads are. Too bad we didn't catch a really good fall... :o)

Evan's First Sledding Experience

These pictures are actually from last week's snow, where Evan was able to have his first sledding experience. Here he is all decked out in his playing-in-the-snow gear.

A little help from Grandmom...
Getting reeled in by Grandad.
Getting pulled down the lane by Dad, who also decided to film.

Can you tell that he didn't want any snow on his sled? I don't know where he gets that from... :o)
