Happy Halloween!

As a result of Evan's "booing" to anything that looks remotely like a cow (horses and goats count), we decided to make him a cow for halloween! He did not so much like the part that goes over his head, but he dealt with it long enough to take a picture.

"What? There's a cow on me?!"
Josh in action carving Evan's pumpkin.
Working my own magic.
Family photo with our pumpkins.
Close up of our pumpkins -- mine, Evan's and Josh's.

UD Homecoming

UD Homecoming was today, and while the weather was less than desireable, we were able to take Evan for a little taste of Hens football.
Trying on Dad's hat for size.
Full view of the romper, and showing off some standing skill -- even if it is Leaning Tower of Pisa style! :o)

We like to be outside

"Want some of my grass?"
"No? Okay, I'll just give 'er a little taste..."
As much as Evan loves his lion to ride, his favorite ride is definitely Daddy!! :o) Any time either of us lays on our stomach on the floor, Ev hops on.
Showing off our funny hat and awesome country boy outfit.
Feeding that cute little cow again. Apples are a much better snack than that celery!
Showing off our mooing skill. Excuse the poor lighting and rude burp at the end...

One Year Stats and Other Stuff

Evan went to the doctor on Friday for his 12-month check up and lots of shots. Well, it was only three, but his poor little legs are still bruised! Evan weighed in at 20 pounds, 14 ounces (putting him in the 10-25%) and measured 31.25 inches long (75-90%!!!). The nurse actually came back in the measure his length again because she did not think he grew over three inches in three months... So, for now, Ev is long and lean. :o)
.
Evn enjoys his barn set from Uncle Josh and Aunt Lina for his birthday.
On Saturday, we took a trip over to Towson to visit Jess, Jenn and Kate. Due to the weather, the kiddos did not attend the UD vs Towson football game, but they were able to get in some quality time together. Kate and Evan learn to share the much-beloved cell phone.
Ev was able to sneak into Kate's chair while she wasn't looking to watch some football. "What?! You threw a flag on that?!"
Showing off some UD gear with Dad.
The boys were getting some cabin fever today, so we bundled up and went for a walk. It's crazy how tight his hat ended up being (a one-size fits all toddler hat... and his head is still in the 50-75%!), and how large the mitters were when they came in a set together. I promise his thumb is not bent in that ridiculous manner below! :o)
And just how cute is this hat?!

First Week of Being One

Evan's first week of being one year old has been fairly low-key. We go to the doctor this Friday for his 12-month check up (a few weeks late...), so I can give you the official height and weight measurements then. Evan is currently working on cutting some pre-molars, which has made the day-to-day activities a little whiney. He is a trooper though, and is trying to power through. Being outside tends to help, so he decided to camp out under this tree while I was gathering laundry off the clothes line.
A little close up.
Trying to feed the goats some celery. They were not so much fans...
Time for a short flight on the way back inside.
I also realized that I never went through his general accomplishments when I posted his birthday pictures! Evan is not quite walking yet -- he uses objects around him to help him walk, but most of the time he prefers to just get down and crawl or bear-crawl. He likes to point at everything, and he especially enjoys it when you point back to him and touch fingers. His vocabulary includes "Da-da", "Ma-ma", "Bay-bwee" (baby), "Boo" (which is "moo", and he loves to point at the cows and goats behind our house and "boo" at them), and "Wuff" (like a dog). Every once in a while he will break out a "g" sound, and he has been working on his "t-t" lately, I think to try to say "kitty". Other than that, I guess he is just working on being a toddler! :o)

One Year Photos

We took Evan down to the barn to get some fall photos of him on his birthday. We are hoping to get some professional pictures of him to celebrate him being one year old, but we would like the leaves to change a little bit more. Here are some of the ones we took today:

Household Chores

Ev decided he was going to help me with dinner by testing out this raw potato... mmmm...
So, did you grow tall enough to run the dryer?
Nope. We got a little help from the door! (P.S. This was so not my doing! I turn my back for one second...)

Happy Birthday to Evan!

Evan turned one year old today! We cannot believe that a year has gone by, although it is a paradox because being in the hospital with him seems so long ago, yet the time seems to have flown by. We were able to celebrate with both sets of grandparents, Aunt Lina, Uncle Josh, and two of my cousins from Korea, Jeonga and Jeong Hawk.
.
Aunt Lina made two fabulous cakes for Evan's birthday!!
Evan gets to test out the waters with a cake of his own.
Mmmm, sugar!! :o) (There was a minor cake in the eye incident shortly later which caused quite the stir, but we decided to keep the blog about the happy birthday it really was!)
This is Evan's birthday gift from us. He quickly learned the objective and was able to help wrangle the balls into the contraption.
