Talkin' Evs (First Attempt)

This was our previous attempt of catching his laughing/talking
on tape. No comments about my footwork - I was focused on my filming!

Talkin' Evs

Here's a little sample of Evan saying "Thank you" for filling up his tummy:

Two Months

Evan went for his two month check up last Thursday. He weighed in at 11 pounds, 4 ounces; however, he didn't appear to grow in length by the doctor's measurement. This doesn't seem right to us since we think he looks longer and his onesies aren't quite fitting as good as they once did. I will cut her some slack, however, because a squirming baby is not easy to measure! :o) And since they never give me his percentile statistics, I found my own chart online and plotted his measurements. He is just below the 50% mark in height and weight, which is crazy, because we feel like he's so big!
Development wise, Evan has started sucking on his fists on a regular basis.
And he finds the picture frame above the couch to be quite a hoot! I tend to feed him here, and when I go to burp him, he finds this frame to be the most hysterical thing.

And look how nicely his hair is coming in! :o) Both parents are extremely excited about this!

Road Trip

For Thanksgiving, we traveled north to Connecticut to visit Jason and Erica (Josh's brother and his wife) in their new house. Their house was super beautiful and we appreciate them taking in such a rambunctious crowd over the holiday! :o) Evan traveled in the car very well, especially since we traveled at night. He was a little out of his element in the hotel room, but we survived. We are so thankful to the many hands that helped to care for Evan so that we could rest during the day. As a result of my naps, I didn't get any pictures of Aunt Erica holding Evan. We will definitely remedy that situation over Christmas!! :o)
Here, Evan learns that drinking beer...
leads to being passed out in the hotel room...

With their matching outfits, Josh tries to entertain Kate while Jess and Jenn shopped for a new TV.

Evan managed to keep his eyes open for a few minutes to take our first family photo since being in the hospital.
And because you can't have enough pictures of sleeping babies... :o)

Smile!

Evan's smiles are becoming more and more frequent; however, they're still hard to catch on camera! His smiles are also sometimes accompanied by a small laugh/coo, which is super adorable. Here's a few shots of the gum-filled smiles! :o)

Ramblings from the Weekend

Evan has been doing great with rolling over and holding his head up during tummy time and when held up to your shoulder. He is still quite wobbly when in the seated position, but he's improving every day. Doesn't he look completely exasperated with tummy time in this picture? I can take a hint... :o)

He has also started smiling a lot more -- yay!! :o) Of course, he is completely camera shy, so I can rarely get him to smile for the camera, or even catch a good one when he's not looking.

Here is Evan watching the Eagles game with his Grandpop Joe in their matching Eagles attire.
Evan says, "Whaaaat? They didn't win? Even with my awesome gear?"

Here are some random fun photos:
All stretched out after an hour and a half in the sling.
Our poor kid has the worst receeding hairline! :o( He had minimal hair up there to start with, but then he lost it all! At least now it's starting to grow back... slowly...

How GQ is this outfit? We thank Aunt Erica for dressing us so nicely!! :o)

Mesmerized

Whatever is directly in front of Evan's face is generally not good enough for him, so he contantly turns his head to get a better view. He is usually mesmerized by the ceiling fan and any light. His new thing is to arch his back while lying on Josh's chest to get the best view of the light.

A Little Lesson

Josh is trying to demonstrate the proper way to watch television while laying on the couch:
Evan, however, says, "Don't worry, Dad. I've got it covered!"

One Month Checkup

First off, I apologize for slacking on the updates and such. I don't have any fun pictures to post, but I will make more of an effort to take some and post them soon!
As far as Evan goes, he had his one month check up the other day. He is weighing in at a hefty 9 pounds 8 ounces and measuring 22.5 inches. The doctor referred to him as "a very health one-month old," but I think that was her way of politely calling him fat... :o) Oh well, we'll take healthy any day!
In addition, on the eve of his four week birthday, Evan decided he was ready to ready to roll over from front to back! He has since done this about five times that I know of, but not ever for the camera! I think he knows I'm filming him, so we pretty much have a lot of footage of him laying on his belly and crying.
As far as the parents are concerned, Josh is almost finished with his student teaching. He is finished with his days of actual teaching in the classroom, but he has some days to ride out observing and wrapping up loose ends. He is quite happy to have reached the end!! :o) And for me, I'm just enjoying being home with Evan every day. He keeps me busy, but we're all healthy and happy and feel very blessed.

Happy Halloween!

Evan was a pumpkin for his first Halloween:

Kim's parents were a super creepy clown and an old woman.Lina and Josh posed as Peppermint Patty and Charlie Brown. They found their pumpkin!! :o)

Jeonga was the nicest witch in the room! :o)

And the parents were party poopers, so we were not in costume. We do, however, have a whole year to come up with a trio for next Halloween!

Go Phils!

Josh and Evan are cheering for the Phillies in Game 5 of the World Series.
The nifty Phillies romper in full effect.

Life at 3 Weeks

Evan lives quite the busy life for a three-week old. During his awake times, he swings in his swing:
And enjoys some tummy time:

It's a Draw!

We're not quite sure who won the battle of who could stay up longer...

Surprise!!

Jared and Gina were up from Texas this weekend with their little Leah, (Gina and Leah were a fun surprise!) so we were able to have all of the cousins together! We cannot wait until Christmas to do it again and see how they are all growing up!
Meeting Aunt Gina and Uncle Jared.
Uncle Jesse and Aunt Jenn enjoying some feeding time. Don't they look ready for another baby? :o)

Grandmom in her element with Kate, Leah and Evan. And yes, we have them in matching Halloween onesies!

Just about two months apart, Leah and Evan are comparable in size.

Cute Outfits

How cute is this striped romper?
Evan is slightly embarrassed about his shirt selling him out as being an "Automatic Sprinkler". If only the sprinkler was on a timer and I knew when it was coming on... that would be so helpful!!

The Boys

Josh and Evan are having a fabulous conversation as Diesel waits his turn for Josh's attention.

Cuddle Time

Happy Birthday Lina!!

Evan helped his Aunt Lina celebrate her 27th birthday today!
And enjoyed some QT with Uncle Josh.
Then he was sacked out from all of the excitement...

First Doctor's Appointment

Here is the look of fear that accompanies the first doctor's appointment...
No need to worry though, he did not receive any shots! Although he has not gained any weight since we left the hospital, nobody seems concerned. He is measuring in the 50% for his height and just under for his weight. So, on paper, he's just an average Joe. But not to us -- he's our little cutie!!! :o)

Thursday, October 9, 2008

In his crib after a night of fighting the sleep.
One of his very few "eyes open, not crying" sessions...

First Bath

Well, okay, he was bathed in the hospital by the nurses when I was sleeping, so this is his first bath given by me at home. :o) At first, he was not so much a fan of the nakedness...

Then he thought if he laid really still, we might not see him to give him a bath anymore...

The proud parents:
Meeting the grandparents:
And cousin Kate and Aunt Jenn:

More pictures of the little guy:
And for kicks, how hysterical is this ballooon??

We promise to post more pictures as we take them and get them from other people's cameras!
