Weekend with Grandmom and Kate

Nascar weekend in Dover usually means that the boys are at the race and the gals and babies get to spend some time together. Kate and Ev enjoy a nice wagon ride from Grandmom.Kate helps Grandmom feed Evan his bottle.
Looking quite debonair in his overalls. He is looking more and more like a toddler and less like an infant, just one week before his first birthday!
Brrm, brrm! It's so hard to catch him doing well on the tractor on camera. I think he gets stage fright... :o)

Silly Goose

What some may see as just an ordinary cabinet...
Actually houses a small one! :o) We like to make a pig nose out of the cap for his bottle.
"Um, does this go in the gentle cycle?" (I don't know why the blog constantly fights me about rotating pictures...)
Who needs an expensive walker when you can just push the chair across the kitchen? I'm sure this is just training to climb up onto the counter in a few months!

Golf

For some reason, Ev thinks Josh hitting the golf ball is hilarious. (Sorry you might have to crank your volume a little bit, but I guess the camera was picking up the traffic and just the outside noise in general rather than his chuckle.)
Then we help Dad fetch the golf balls, bear-crawl style. :o)

Pumpkins and Ravens

We stopped by the barn to let Evan play in some pumpkins. He was completely fascinated by the hot air balloon gourd that hangs above the counter. Below, he points it out to Grandmom Judy.
Evan's Ravens outfit served as a good luck charm, as the Ravens pulled out an exciting win. He also enjoyed rummaging through the pumpkins to see which ones he could pick up.
Um, maybe with a little help from Dad.
"This doesn't taste like pumpkin pie..."
Enjoying a little time outside at Grandmom and Grandpop Hertzog's between the Eagles and Ravens games.
Catching a ride on the rocking giraffe.
Showing some love for the Eagles too! :o)

Cause and Effect

"So I was just crusing along on my lion, right?"
"Then I ran over my toe!"
(Sorry the photos are a little washed out... the dumb windows are always in my way!)

"Let's see... one lid... something's missing.."
"Ahh, here it is!"

Shananigans

As it turns out, Evan IS just like his Daddy -- when he hears the fridge open, he comes running!! :o) His latest thing is to be in the fridge any time it opens, even if he has to come from across the house to get there!
Ev shares his recliner with Leap, and shows her how to use the remote.

Evan can't get enough of the John Deere at Grandmom and Granddad Judy's house.
He was doing so well running back and forth across the kitchen and living room as Granddad chased him. But of course, as soon as I grab the camera, he freezes up and puts on a less than par performance. His ride is also usually accompanied by his motor "brrm, brrm" noise, so who knows what this wild cat noise is! :o)

Learning curve

While most babies may learn to stand or walk on their own by holding on to something and then slowly letting go, Evan chooses to learn to stand free-style. He generally tries to stand more when we are out in the grass because he doesn't like to put his knees down. Here is one of his latest attempts...
"Ah-ha! It's this hat that is the problem!"
"Ta-da!"

Small world, or small boy?

This is Josh's new favorite picture:Yep, that little spec in the yard is Ev. Just sitting. :o)

Oh that boy! :o)

This little trouble maker can't stay out of the cabinets in the kitchen. Evan loves it when we use the big pots so that there's space for him to fit and really poke around.
Well, it's not quite big enough to stand...
Hanging out with our two-day apart birthday buddy Kaylie McDowell at Aunt Lina's Labor Day party.
"What? I'm blocking your view to the tv?"
Whenever possible, we must make noise!! Here is Ev's traveling drum system.

And of course, a favorite: throwing things!
