Busy Weekend

Evan has finally put most of the pieces together and has started to crawl. It's still a little broken up, but he gets around the living room quickly, resulting in quite a few bumps on his head. He hasn't quite learned to turn away from things, like the wall and table legs yet. In this video, he is trying to get the little wrist strap on our camera. (I was originally trying to get the side view, but that just wasn't working out for us!)

Ev also learned to pull himself up to a standing position today! Guess it is time to put that crib side up! This spells much trouble and busy days ahead for the parents... :o)

Happy Memorial Day

We took our day off to help celebrate my mom's birthday a day early. Although he could not have some of the yummy cake that Lina made, Ev helped his Grandmom with her tricky candle.

Aunt Lina gets in some cuddly play time before dinner.
And Grandpop Joe helps Ev show off his new hat.
Our strawberries are really coming on now, so we decided to let Evan give them a try. He was not sure of the taste at first...

Then he decided that he really didn't like strawberries at ALL!

When he went to check on Evan, Josh thought that he was sleeping in a funny position. However, during the time it took him to fetch the camera, Ev woke up and wondered what the commotion was about...

Grass Time

We made our own little play pen out of a laundry basket, and Ev loved it. :o)
Watching the cars go by...
Yep, still fascinated by grass! :o) Wow, look how much those little cheekies bulge out!!

Crawling Update

Evan's crawling has gotten to the point where he can get up on his hands and knees: But instead of alternating right hand, left knee, left hand, right knee, he decides to just pull his toes up under him and make a nice V. See? Are you looking? :o)
Then it all collapses and Evan wonders what happened and why he didn't really get anywhere.
And this picture has nothing to do with his crawling, but it shows how happy his bathtime makes him.

Busy Weekend

Jesse, Jenn and Katelyn visited this past weekend. It has been so long since everyone has seen each other, Kate just couldn't wait to give Ev his first hug of the weekend!
I guess you can't really wear a "Hug Me" bib and not get hugged. :o) Ev tries to get away...
But Kate persists! She gives him a nice pat on the head to say "thanks for hugs!" :o)
Evan also had his first experience of real grass! We tried our best to keep it out of his mouth, but he's a boy and things happen. :o)

"You want me to get out of my bouncy seat? This is what I think about that..."

(excuse the staple gun in the background -- Josh was working outside...)

Bower's Beach

We spent this past weekend at a house that my parents rented in Bower's Beach. The weekend was really relaxing, and we enjoyed being able to spend so much time with everyone.
.
Here is Evan's first beach experience.

Evan and his Uncle Josh enjoy the beach scene from the balcony.
The house had a hot tub, but it stuggled to get up to a hot tub temperature. Since the water was barely luke warm, we decided to let Ev take a dip with his Grandpop Joe. It turned out that it was the perfect-sized little swimming pool, and Ev loved it!

Evan will probably take after his dad and want to be in the pool ALL of the time! Every time he had the opportunity, he would stick his little toosh in the air and kick his legs.

Evan's crawling has really taken off in the past week. His crawling, however, is stuck in reverse! He started on the blanket in front of him and backed up until he wedged himself under his pack 'n play.
Since then, he has gotten the hang of being up on his hands and knees and rocking back and forth like a lizzard. I'm sure in no time we will be chasing after him and trying to keep him out of trouble!

Evan isn't the only one who is sad when the parents go to work. Dozer tries to sneak his way into my bag so we can spend the day together. :o)
Last weekend was pretty roasting hot, so we were able to try out some of our summer duds.

Oh, that Diesel!

Ev's new thing is to wrinkle his nose when he smiles at you. It's not really something you can catch on camera, but we tried. :o)

Sleep Issues

Since Evan has learned that it is super easy to kick his right leg over his body and get to his tummy in one swift motion, he does it constantly! So much so, that he does it when he is trying to sleep, and when he wakes up in this position, he thinks it's time to play. It is quite adorable when it is actually time to get up, but when this carries on at 3 am, it's not so fun...
.
Here is how I found him one morning (so not how he was put to bed!):
I grew tired of the late-night shananigans last week, so I decided to wedge our couch pillows in his crib so he couldn't roll over any more. I guess this is his expression of exasperation with the new sleeping situation!
Whew, almost too hot to sleep!
